Interview with the Playwright
What inspired you to write Wrecked?
My mother lives on Cape Cod and the whole New England coast is rife with legends about lighthouse keepers who live alone together for years . . .
“Wrecked” – Does the title refer to a shipwreck?
Ships and people.
What’s been the development process of the play?
It began as a ten minute play, morphed into the beginning of a novel (I got stuck too long researching stoves of the period) and wound up as a full length play. I then took it to the Seven Devils Playwrights Conference in Idaho where I worked on it for a week and it was given a staged reading.
