Co-Op Updates – June 2010

June 14th, 2010

Co-op: Galileo, opening in 705 on July 8th, needs a costume co-ordinator. We have a large stock of costumes available to us; we need someone creative to play with us and co-ordinate what we do have. If you would like to lend a hand, e mail Elina de Santos at elinadesantos@gmail.com. We need someone as soon as possible.

Conservatory: Chris Shaw, teaching at the PRT Young Actors Conservatory Summer Intensive, says the program is looking for students. As of his e mailing me last week, the program had two students; it is aiming for twenty; last year, its first, the conservatory brought in $15,000 for the theatre, Chris is asking members to recommend the program to kids and parents of kids that you know. The conservatory program accepts kids from 11-17 and the staff of teachers includes Michael Balsley, Nancy Linehan Charles, Kevin Quinn, Elina de Santos, Sarah Zinser, Christopher Shaw and special guest John Achorn, who will offer mask work and comedia training. Chris asks the company, “Put on your thinking caps for a moment and send a few emails, make a few calls, if each member got us one student..we would have to have a second session.” Details of the conservatory are on the website under “classes”; there is a “button” on upper left of home page for the program as well…

Audience Base: Jen Lonsway ask company members to “send us the names and emails of your friends (addresses and phone numbers, too, if you want) so we can add them to our emailings.” She asks all company members to “help us build the PRT audience base.” Send the information to prtjennifer@earthlink.net

Co-op: Galileo, in rehearsal to open in the co-op next month, is looking for a production designer. Steph Shroyer has created a basic set design and needs someone to co-ordinate us in building it. The production is also looking for a costume co-ordinator and a props person. If you’d like to help out in any of these areas, you can contact Ron Cohen at gammy189@gmail.com

Tom Beyer, producer of the co-op’s newest production, Rachel Ray, reports that Friday and Saturday’s shows “were a great start….and we’re back in rehearsal this week to incorporate more changes.” Tom reports that this coming Thursday’s show will be followed by a “celebration……wine, cheese, naked twister.”
