Co-Op Updates – June 2008

Co-op: The co-op series production of Macbeth will audition members on Saturday July 12th from 11AM to 4PM, on Sunday July 13th from Noon till 2PM and 7PM to 9:30PM and on Monday July 14th from 7PM to 9:30PM. If none of those slots work for you, Tom Beyer who has a slightly adapted the play with Nancy Linehan Charles, says we’ll figure something out. Call or email Tom or Nancy with a specific audition time request and they will get back to you confirm. Tom’s number is 323 496 2806 and his e mail address is ; Nancy’s number is 310 458 1921 and her address is . Tom says, You will need to either perform a Shakespeare monologue or read from our slightly adapted script which is posted on the website or can be e mailed to you. A reader will be at the audition. There will probably be no callbacks. Rehearsals will begin in late August with a script reading as well as a couple of meetings with the leads before then; Macbeth will open in the co-op on October. Whitney Whetstone says that PRT will hold company auditions for new members during the last weekend in August. Interested actors should send their headshots and resumes to Susan Dexter c/o PRT, P.O. Box 568, Venice, California 90204. Whitney says that the company is looking for all categories — especially men & women eighteen to twenty-five and men fifty and over. She also says that the PRT summer picnic will be on Sunday July 27th from 5PM until whenever at Venice Beach details to come. BYOB, a dish of food and something to barbeque. The picnic will also function as a farewell to Whitney who will be leaving us.
Company Meeting: Jen Lonsway tells us that the next company meeting will be on Saturday September 13 at 10AM. Our new production manager and new members will be introduced at the meeting. Jen asks members to mark your calendars ahead for company meetings on Saturday January 27th at 10AM and Saturday April 27th at 10AM. .

Mainstage: As PRT is headed into the the imminent opening of My Antonia (the fastest turnaround at PRT that I can remember) Whitney needs a sound board operator and a dresser. As she puts it, “Desperately. By Tuesday.” Work calls this week are on Tuesday from 6-11PM, on Wednesday from 6-11PM and on Thursday from 6-11PM.

Co-op: The co-op committee meeting this last Saturday jammed 705. There was much to talk about and Marilyn says she will schedule a full company meeting right after the opening of My Antonia. .

Mainstage: Michael Rothhaar, house management czar, offers members to volunteer for a choice of weekend to house manage My Antonia. The chance to volunteer will last until Monday, June 2nd, after which Michael will assign slots. As a member, you are required to house manage each show. House managing, unlike ushering, means helping out for a weekend of four shows, unless the week you choose is a short week. (Michael will not split weekends; if you want to split with a fellow member, it is up to you to arrange.) After the volunteer period ends on June 2nd, Michael will resume working his way through the roster and taking into account those who have served recently. All weekends from June 26th till August 3rd are open at this point; My Antonia will perform Thursday through Saturday at 8PM and Sunday at 3PM.. You can contact Michael at or at 310 826-0669.
